Experimental and numerical investigation on integrated thermal management for lithium-ion battery pack with composite phase change materials

In this study, thermal behaviors of an integrated thermal management system (ITMS) with phase change materials (PCMs) and air conditioning exhaust are examined. To enhance thermal conductivity of the PCM, copper foam and paraffin were added. Thermal conductivity of the composite PCM was measured by a thermal analyzer, based on the transient plane source method....

Fabrication, proposed model and simulation predictions on thermally conductive hybrid cyanate ester composites with boron nitride fillers

In the present study, boron nitride/dicyclopentadiene bisphenol cyanate ester/bisphenol A dicyanate ester (BN/DCPDCE/BADCy) composites were investigated for the effects of filler mass on thermal and mechanical properties. Thermal conductivity was measured using an instrument by transient plane source method. With the addition of BN fillers for BN/DCPDCE/BADCy composites, the BN-BN connections of inner composites increased and formed more thermally conductive channels, resulting in improved ...

Experimental and modeling of thermal and dielectric properties of aluminum nitride-reinforced polybenzoxazine hybrids

Compared to traditional epoxy, polybenzoxazine resins have improved thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties. In this article, spherical aluminum nitride (AIN) was studied as a filler in bisphenol A-aniline-based polybenzoxazine (poly(BA-a)). Thermal conductivity was obtained by transient plane source method. Thermal conductivity of each composite gradually increased with enhanced filler amount. Poly(BA-a)/AIN composites also had higher thermal conductivity than systems containing epoxy/AIN....

Synergistic improvement of thermal conductivity in polymer composites filled with self-hybrid expanded graphite fillers

In this study, expanded graphite (EG) was crushed and the resulting composites were filled with various amounts of EG using a melt-mix method. Thermal conductivity was then analyzed to investigate the possible synergistic enhancement through self-hybridization. Thermal conductivity was measured at an ambient temperature and normal pressure. Composites filled with 10 wt% EG and wEG fillers improved thermal conductivity, compared to composites containing one type of filler at 20 wt%....

Thermally conductive MgO-Filled Epoxy Molding Compounds

Despite their tendencies to have low thermal conductivities, epoxy molding compounds (EMCs) are extensively used in automotive applications. In this study, magnesium oxide (MgO) was used as a conductive filler in ECMs to improve the thermal conductivity of the ECMs without altering other important characteristics. A thermal constants analyzer was used to measure the thermal conductivity of the MgO-EMC composites. Ultimately, one of the prepared MgO-EMC compounds was found to ...
