Measurement of Thermal Transport Properties in Metal Doped Polypyrrole

Metal doping of a polypyrrole matrix was carried out. Nickel and Cobalt were the two metals that were used in this study, and three samples were prepared, one containing 100% Co, one containing 50% Co and 50% Ni, and finally, one containing 100% Ni. The effective thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity were evaluated, and it was determined that metal doping of the polymer matrix resulted in increases in both the thermal conductivity, and the ...

Thermal interface materials based on carbon nanotubes and their thermal characterization

The effects of using different fillers and the effects of filler content and particle size on the thermal properties of thermal interface materials were investigated. The most prominent enhancement in thermal conductivity was observed for samples containing carbon nanotubes and graphite. The filler particle size was also found to significantly affect the thermal conductivity, as smaller fillers resulted in a higher thermal conductivity. The article also describes two sample holders ...

Evaluation of Morphological Effect on Thermal and  Mechanical Performance of PS/PMMA/CdS  Nanocomposite Systems

The thermal and mechanical properties of PS/PMMA immiscible polymer blends were investigated. The effects of the dispersion of CdS nanoparticles on these properties were also investigated. The dispersion of the nanoparticles was found to result in an increase in glass transition temperature, as well as the thermal conductivity. The PS matrix was found to become more brittle and the PMMA matrix was found to become more compact upon the ...

Thermal Conductivity Measurements of Polyamide Powder

Thermal conductivity measurements were performed on polyamide 12 and polyamide 11 powders containing carbon nanotubes using the transient plane source (TPS) technique. The effects of powder density and temperature on thermal conductivity were investigated, as well as the effects of using previously heated powder. The thermal conductivity was found to increase with increasing density. For tests involving fresh powder, the thermal conductivity was found to increase linearly with temperature. For the previously ...

Thermal conductivity measurements on wood materials with transient plane source technique

The Transient Plane Source thermal constants analyzer stands out in the field of thermal conductivity testing equipment due to its ability to measure anisotropic materials. In this paper, the mathematical derivation of the equation used in the anisotropic software module of the TPS is used to calculate the thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity of three Italian tree species; larch, oak, and spruce. Axial thermal conductivity was found to be much ...
