Enhancement of heat transport in oscillating heat pipe with ternary fluid

An oscillating heat pipe (OHP) is a pipe that transports heat from the evaporator to the condenser via a complex pulsating action. Nanofluids and self-wetting fluids can be used to improve the heat transport capabilities of the OHPs. This study looks at heat transport performances of OHP with different binary fluids. Thermal conductivity was measured using a thermal analyzer, with transient plane source method. Nanofluids were found to have a ...

High thermal conductive m-xylylenediamine functionalized multiwall carbon nanotubes/epoxy resin composites

Thermally conductive polymers are the most effective and economic methods of removing heat accumulation from microelectronics. In the present study, m-xylylenediamine (MPDA) was used as a curing agent for the epoxy matrix and analyzed for its effect on the thermal conductivity of the composite. Thermal conductivity was measured with a thermal analyzer using the transient plane source (TPS) method. When filling content of the multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) was 2%wt, ...

Effect of sodium dodecylbenzene sulphonate modifier and PP-g-MA on the morphology and thermal conductivity of PP/EG composites

This study analyzed the influence of expanded graphite (EG) and sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate (SDBS) treated EG on the structure and thermal properties of polypropylene. Large surface areas of graphite were found to significantly enhance thermal conductivity and mechanical properties. Thermal conductivity was tested using a thermal constants analyzer. The PP/MAPP/SDBS/EG composites showed better thermal conductivity compared to PP/EG composites....

Enhanced comprehensive performance of polyethylene glycol based phase change material with hybrid graphene nanomaterials for thermal energy storage

In this study, high performance composite phase change materials (PCMs) were created. Graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets were used as supporting materials to keep the shape of polyethylene glycol (PEG) stable during phase change, and graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) were used as conductive fillers. Thermal conductivity was measured with a transient plane source method. Thermal conductivity was found to increase linearly with GNP loading, and PEG/GO/GNP composite PCMs exhibited higher ...

Effects of humidity on thermal performance of aerogel insulation blankets

Efficient thermal insulation is becoming increasingly important as people spend more time in buildings. Aerogel blankets are highly porous materials made of polymeric fibers coated with aerogel particles that are used for building insulation. This paper aimed to explore the effect of moisture on the thermal properties of insulating aerogel blankets, because in humid environments, condensation within building insulation heightens thermal conductivity. The thermal constants analyzer TPS measured the thermal ...
