Slab Measurement of Thin Highly Conductivity Sheets
The TPS slab testing module is intended for measurement of thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity and volumetric specific heat of conducting materials in the sheet or slab form.
Similar to the standard TPS method, a TPS sensor is sandwich between two pieces of the same sample, additionally the top and bottom surfaces of the slabs need to be insulated by a material with low thermal conductivity in order to reduce the heat losses to the surroundings. Heat losses should be low compared with the total output of power in the sensor during the transient recording. Secondly, heat propagates mainly in the direction of the slab plane and it is assumed that the sample is “infinite” in this plane.
