Improvement on the low-temperature thermoelectric characteristics of Ca3xYbxCo4O9bdelta (0rxr0.10)

The low-temperature thermoelectric properties of Ca3-xYbxCo4O9+delta systems (x = 0, 0.02, 0.05, and 0.10). It was determined that these systems produced positive thermopower, indicating that the dominant carriers were holes. The electrical resistivity and thermopower were found to increase with increasing Yb3+ content, and the thermal conductivity was found to decrease. The highest calculated thermoelectric figure of merit was 0.037, and this was calculated for the Ca2.95Yb0.05Co4O9+delta sample....

Corrosion Behavior and Thermal Conductivity of Plasma Sprayed AlN/Al2O3 Coating

Composite spray coatings containing Al2O3 and AlN were prepared and their tensile bonding strength, microhardness, corrosion behavior and thermal conductivity were compared to those of pure Al2O3. The goal of this study was to identify a spray coating with an improved thermal conductivity over that of Al2O3 for use in coating heat exchangers, furnace walls, heat pipes, etc. The coatings that were prepared had AlN : a-Al2O3 ...

Microstructural and thermophysical properties of U–6 wt.%Zr alloy for fast reactor application

Thermophysical properties of a uranium-6 wt. % zirconium alloy were investigated at high temperatures to evaluate the performance of the alloy as a driver fuel for a liquid-metal cooled fast reactor. Of particular interest to the authors were the coefficient of thermal expansion, the specific heat, and the thermal conductivity of the alloy....

Thermophysical properties of Zr–Cu–Al metallic glasses during crystallization

Zr-Cu-Al metallic glasses were formulated with differing compositions to determine their thermophysical properties. It was determined that by decreasing the zirconium content of the metallic glass, the thermal conductivity can be increased. The maximum value of thermal conductivity was found for the metallic glass with a composition of Zr:Cu:Al = 50:39.3:10.7 (at. %). It was found that although the metallic glasses did not crystallize with heat treatment below Tg, they did ...

Thermoelectric Properties of Ca3xDyxCo4O9+d with x = 0.00, 0.02, 0.05, and 0.10

The low-temperature thermoelectric properties of Ca3-xDyxCo4O9+delta systems (x = 0, 0.02, 0.05, and 0.10). It was determined that these systems produced positive thermopower, indicating that the dominant carriers were holes. The electrical resistivity and thermal conductivity were found to decrease with increasing Dy3+ content, and the thermopower was found to increase. The highest calculated thermoelectric figure of merit was 0.044, and this was calculated for the Ca2.9Dy0.1Co4O9+delta sample....
