23rd International Thermal Conductivity Conference Award Co-Winner 1995
After serving in the United States Army, Dr. David Yarbrough joined the Tennessee Technological University in 1968 as Professor and Chairman of Chemical Engineering. As a world leading expert in insulation and testing, Yarbrough worked at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory for over 30 years, where he was instrumental in researching and developing new products and won an R&D 100 Award for his fire-resistive phase change material. In 1994, Dr. Yarbrough and his colleague created R&D Services, Inc. and quickly boosted its growth to become an accredited laboratory, working closely with some of the largest insulation manufacturers in the world. As an active member of several societies and committees, including the American Society for Testing and Materials, Yarbrough developed C 1497, a cellulosic insulation with adhesive to prevent settling after installation.
