Heat transfer biofluids: A novel approach towards weed management

Weeds are invasive species that have yet to be controlled and cost nations millions of dollars per year in crop losses. In this experiment, two of the worst weeds in the world, Lantana camara and Parthenium Hysterophorus, were studied to determine their capability of producing heat transfer fluids (“biofluids”) that can be sold to reduce the economic burden they cause. The Thermal Constants Analyzer measured the thermal conductivity of the ...

Experimental investigation of thermal conduction in copper palladium nanofluids

With the increasing popularity of nanofluids (NFs), understanding their thermal properties is critical. In this paper, a thermal constant analyzer measured the thermal conductivity of copper/palladium bimetallic nanostructure-based nanofluids using the transient plane source (TPS) method. Results showed that the addition of the nanoparticles enhanced the thermal conductivity of the nanofluids by approximately 19%....

Temperature dependent ultrasonic and thermo-physical properties of polyaniline nanofibers reinforced epoxy composites

Nanocomposites of polyaniline nanofibers reinforced in epoxy were prepared and their ultrasonic velocities, ultrasonic attenuations, and thermal conductivities were measured over a temperature range of 298-373 K. It was found that the ultrasonic velocity decreased with increasing temperature, but increased with increasing concentration of polyaniline nanofibers in the epoxy matrix. These two trends were opposite for the ultrasonic attenuation, and the thermal conductivity was found to increase with increasing temperature ...

Synthesis and experimental investigation on thermal conductivity of nanofluids containing functionalized Polyaniline nanofibers

The authors propose a fast and novel method for the synthesis of polyaniline nanofibers and their incorporation into DI-water as a nanofluid. The thermal conductivities of the nanofluids are measured from 10 °C to 80 °C by using the transient plane source (TPS) method. The particle loading amount of nanofibers affected the thermal conductivity of the nanofluids. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) was used to characterize the physical properties of the nanofibers....
