Abstract: This paper summarizes the measuring method of thermal conductivity of rocks and the parameters controlling the transport and exchange of thermal energy. The transient plane source method was analyzed and found to have advantages over other methods, such as short test times and the ability to measure solid, liquid and powder materials.  Thermal conductivity of rock was tested using an instrument. Results show thermal conductivity of rock in a saturate state is much higher than that under dry conditions.
