Abstract: This paper explains an addition to a larger NPL project with the purpose to validate the use of the transient contact-probes for measurement of the thermal conductivity of soft solids such as foods, powders, and biological materials. Transient line source methods are used in this paper to accurately measure the thermal conductivities of a large variety of materials. More attention is paid to studying powders, and the effect that packing density has on thermal conductivity.
