Abstract: Octane solutions containing metal salts were irradiated with 350 nm photons using oleoyl sarcosine as a particle stabilizer and benzophenone as a particle sensitizer to produce suspensions of nanometer-sized metal particles. The goal of this study was to prepare nanofluids with enhanced thermal conductivity in comparison to pure octane. It was found that the thermal conductivities were enhanced by the production of the nanofluids, with a 10 % enhancement being observed at 50oC.
