Abstract: The through-plane thermal conductivity of many components of a fuel cell, dry Nafion®, various diffusion medias and catalyst layers are studied. The thermal contact resistance between the diffusion media and a metal plate with respect to temperature and pressure was also determined. The measurements were made with a guarded heat flow meter device. The least accurate measurement was of the Toray carbon fiber paper diffusion media which displayed a value of 1.80 ± 0.27 Wm−1K−1.
