Thermal transport, thermomechanical, and dielectric properties of chalcogenide Se98–xAg2Inx (x = 0, 2, 4, 6) system

The influence of In content in the Se98-xAg2Inx (x = 0, 2, 4, 6) system of chalcogenide glasses on the physical properties of the glasses were investigated by the authors. The maximum thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity value was observed for the sample containing 2 at. % In. The microhardness was found to initially decrease upon doping of In for Se; however, it began to slowly increase after a certain In content had been attained. ...

Study on effective thermal conductivity of zinc sulphide/poly(methyl methacrylate) nanocomposites

Zinc sulfide nanoparticles were embedded in a poly(methyl methacrylate) matrix to prepare a  nanocomposite polymer with a higher thermal conductivity than the pure polymer. It was determined by TEM that at a low concentration of filler particles, the particles are uniformly dispersed throughout the matrix; however, at higher concentrations, agglomeration of the filler particles occurs. The effective thermal conductivity for all samples was found to increase with increasing temperature ...

Measurement of Thermal Transport Properties in Metal Doped Polypyrrole

Metal doping of a polypyrrole matrix was carried out. Nickel and Cobalt were the two metals that were used in this study, and three samples were prepared, one containing 100% Co, one containing 50% Co and 50% Ni, and finally, one containing 100% Ni. The effective thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity were evaluated, and it was determined that metal doping of the polymer matrix resulted in increases in both the thermal conductivity, and the ...

Thermoelectric Properties of Ca1−xGdxMnO3−delta (0.00, 0.02, and 0.05) Systems

The thermoelectric properties of the Ca1-xGdxMnO3-delta system where x= 0.00, 0.02, and 0.05 were evaluated. It was determined that the sample with the lowest electrical resistivity was the Ca0.95Gd0.05MnO3-delta sample. This result was attributed to the increase content of Mn3+ in the Mn4+ matrix resulting from doping of gadolinium. The dominant charge carriers in all samples were holes, as the thermopower was negative. The highest thermoelectric figure of ...

Effects of Reaction Temperature on Thermoelectric Properties of p-Type Nanostructured Bi2−x Sb x Te3 Prepared Using Hydrothermal Method and Evacuated-and-Encapsulated Sintering

Bi2-xSbxTe3 thermoelectric materials, where x = 1.52 and 1.55 were prepared and evaluated for their thermoelectric properties. Three samples in total were prepared, two with x = 1.52 and 1.55 were synthesized at 140oC and one with x = 1.55 was synthesized at 160 oC. It was determined that the two samples synthesized at the higher temperature had lower resistivity than that which was synthesized at higher temperature. The figure of merit for the sample synthesized at 140oC, ...
