Increased Thermal Conductivity of Eicosane-Based Composite Phase Change Materials in the Presence of Graphene Nanoplatelets

The addition of graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) to a paraffin-based solvent, eicosane was performed at various wt.% and subsequently the synthesized GNP/eicosane composites were analyzed by a variety of machines. The characterization of the GNP/eicosane composites was performed by the TPS technique for the measurement of thermal conductivity from 10°C to 35°C. At a wt.% of 10 GNP filler the composite had a thermal conductivity four times that of unfilled ...

Study on dispersion behavior and thermal conductivity of Cu-H2O nanofluids

The addition of Cu nanoparticles to water was studied at different pH values and different dispersant concentrations by the measurement of zeta potential and absorbency. Thermal conductivity was measured. It was found that the ideal properties of the nanofluid were obtained at pH 9.5....

Experimental and Model Research on Nanorefrigerant Thermal Conductivity

Describes how second-order terms are important to the hot-strip method, and should be included in situations where a high-current pulse is being used. The authors determined approximate values for the coefficients of second-order terms....

Simultaneous determination of thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity of food and agricultural materials using a transient plane-source method

Since there was no literature on using the transient plane source method for the measurement of thermal conductivity and diffusivity of food products the authors did it themselves. They tested a variety of products including water, mineral oil, ethanol, beef, chicken and apples and determined that using the transient plane source method to simultaneously measure thermal conductivity and diffusivity was an accurate method....

Viscosity and thermal conductivity measurements of water-based nanofluids containing titanium oxide nanoparticles

This article looks at the thermal properties of titanium oxide (TiO2) based nanofluids and their applications as thermal vectors. The nanoparticle size was studied by dynamic light scattering (DLS) and the stability was measured by Zeta potential. The concentrations of TiO2 used ranged from 1 to 35% by mass in the water-based nanofluid. Thermal conductivity was measured and the effects of concentration of TiO2 and temperature on the thermal conductivity were studied. ...
