Yeram S. Touloukian

15th International Thermal Conductivity Conference Award Co-Winner 1977

Yeram S. Touloukian is world-renowned for his work on thermophysical properties, which he was instrumental in molding into a highly respected field on its own. Touloukian received his master’s degree from MIT, and later his Ph.D. from Purdue University, where he went on to become a Professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering. Professor Touloukian never hesitated to start something new, and developed many new courses, conferences, and committees in physical thermodynamics. He also established the International Journal of Thermophysics and the Thermophysical Properties Research Center (CINDAS) at Purdue University in 1957, where he directed until his death. Throughout his career, he received numerous awards and honors from both national and international organizations, recognizing his outstanding leadership in the international thermophysics community, his unique perception and guidance in thermophysics research, and his major contributions to thermophysical properties literature.
