Robert Zarr

31st International Thermal Conductivity Conference Award Winner 2011

Robert Zarr received his MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University in 1982. After graduating, Zarr joined the National Institute of Standards and Technology as a research engineer and was later appointed project lead of NIST’s 1016 mm guarded hot plate laboratory. Under his guidance and leadership, the facility has developed thermal insulation SRM’s, participated in inter-laboratory comparisons, and provided more than 100 measurements to industries and government agencies. As a member of the American Society for Testing and Materials Committee C-16 and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Robert Zarr was awarded the NIST Bronze Bronze Medal in 2002 and the NIST Allen V. Astin Award in 2008 for his contributions to the field of thermal conductivity.
