Peter Gaal

26th International Thermal Conductivity Conference Award Co-Winner 2001

Graduating from Technische Universität Berlin, Peter Gaal specializes in the study of thin films, optics, and photonics. With a PhD from Max-Born-Institute for Nonlinear Optics, he worked as a researcher in the Department of Semiconductor Spectroscopy, and on Ultrafast Dynamics in Condensed Matter at the Institute of Physics and Astronomy. As the Senior Research Scientist at Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin, Gaal managed and developed the XPP experimental station at the Synchrotron facility, BESSY II. Gaal is currently a visiting professor and head of the group, Dynamics in Solids and Nanostructures, at Universität Hamburg.
