Ray E. Taylor
Ray Taylor received a BS in chemical technology from Iowa State University in 1951, a MS in physical chemistry from the University of Idaho in 1956, and a PhD in solid-state technology from Penn State University in 1967. Taylor was employed at Atomics International from 1957 to 1964, where he developed millisecond calorimetry and laser thermal diffusivity measurement technology. In 1967, Taylor began working at Purdue University at the Thermophysical Properties Research Center and Laboratory, hosting many international visitors and directed numerous thesis’. He was a member of ASTM E037 and the Thermal Expansion Symposium. After retiring in 1995, Taylor bought the Thermophysical Properties Research Laboratory, where he continued to apply his technology to various materials.
