Abstract: The researchers used the transient plane source (TPS) technique for the measurement of a variety of solid and liquid reference materials in order to assess the capability of the TPS technique. Specifically probe size and contact were studied to see how they affected the transient measurements. In addition, the influence of natural convection on liquid samples was studied. While multiple thermal properties can be measured using the TPS technique, thermal conductivity was the focus of this research report.
