Abstract: A series of fabrics containing different mass ratios of polyurethane binder to melamine-formaldehyde microcapsules were created and their thermal properties were investigated. A variety of thermal analysis methods including guarded hot plate and differential scanning calorimetry were employed to characterize the series of fabrics. The mass ratio of microcapsules to polyurethane binder had a significant effect on the thermal properties of the fabrics and the researchers pointed out a specific ratio that would be suitable for the synthesis of thermoregulating textiles.
