Abstract: A series of fabrics containing different mass ratios of polyurethane binder to melamine-formaldehyde microcapsules were created and their thermal properties were investigated. A variety of thermal analysis methods including guarded hot plate, hot disk and differential scanning calorimetry were employed to characterize the series of fabrics. The mass ratio of microcapsules to polyurethane binder had a significant effect on the thermal properties of the fabrics and the researchers pointed out a specific ratio that would be suitable for the synthesis of thermoregulating textiles.
