Abstract: This paper discussed the creation of ceramic foams with various amounts of agar added. The foams used fly ash as the raw material in order to make them more environmentally friendly. The authors hoped that this successful use of fly ash could help to recycle that vast amounts of it that are produced each year. The effect of the various agar additions on the thermal conductivity of the foams was also investigated. The porosity of the foams decreased as the amount of agar added increased. The investigators concluded that the lowest thermal conductivity was achieved with the highest porosity.
