Abstract: The mathematical model for a transient plane source (TPS) is based on a number of concentric ring sources with an infinitely small gap between sample and sensor (strips model). The purpose of this article is to create a model that accounts for the size of the sensor, three models were tested the disk, circles, and rings. The circles model gave almost exactly the same values for thermal conductivity as the strips, therefore both can be used to accurately determine thermal conductivity of a material.
