Thermal properties of green alumina porcelain

The thermal properties, as well as bulk density, and mass loss of alumina porcelain were determined as a function of firing temperature. It was found that after sintering at 1320 ÂșC, the thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity increased by ~700% and ~400%, respectively....

Concentric circular strips model of the transient plane source-sensor

The mathematical model for a transient plane source (TPS) is based on a number of concentric ring sources with an infinitely small gap between sample and sensor (strips model). The purpose of this article is to create a model that accounts for the size of the sensor, three models were tested the disk, circles, and rings. The circles model gave almost exactly the same values for thermal conductivity as the ...

Using the Transient Plane Source Method for Measuring Thermal Parameters of Electroceramics

Using the transient plane source (TPS) technique, researchers measured the thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity and specific heat capacity of an electrically insulating ceramic material prepared from kaolin and feldspar. The electroceramic was tested at multiple temperature points to see how it affected thermal conductivity. Thermal properties were strongly affected by temperature, and the ceramic material studied had the highest thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity at the highest temperature tested. The ...

Contribution to the Transient Plane Source Method for Measuring Thermophysical Properties of Solids

The author reports on improvements to the transient plane source (TPS) technique which deal with increasing the maximum reliability of the measurements. Optimal time of measurement, sensor temperature measurement, and uncertainty of results are explored. The theory was confirmed by experimental measurements made on polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA)....
