In this paper silica aerogels were synthesized using solvent exchange and surface modification of wet gels from waterglass using IPA/TMCS/n-Hexane solution. The densities, porosities, and specific surface areas were measured. Three different mixing methods were employed to determine their effect on the thermal and mechanical properties of the aerogel.
