Preservation of Sand and Building Energy Conservation

Concrete and sand that were replaced by coal bottom ash concrete were analyzed and compared for strength and heat conductivity. Thermal conductivity was measured using an instrument, based on the Transient Plane Source technique. When the samples contained 40% replacement coal, the thermal conductivity value was reduced by 35%, for 60% replacement the thermal conductivity value was reduced by 36.5%, and for 100% replacement, thermal conductivity was reduced further to around 51%....

Thermal Conductivity of Rocks and the Analysis of its Influence Factors

This paper summarizes the measuring method of thermal conductivity of rocks and the parameters controlling the transport and exchange of thermal energy. The transient plane source method was analyzed and found to have advantages over other methods, such as short test times and the ability to measure solid, liquid and powder materials.  Thermal conductivity of rock was tested using an instrument. Results show thermal conductivity of rock in a saturate ...

Thermal conductivity of unsaturared mixtures of loess soil with granulated rubber

The addition of rubber pellet to loess soil can improve the thermal property of loess and provide a potential frost barrier to road foundation. This study looks at thermal conductivity of unsaturated Granulated Rubber and Loess Soil Mixtures (GRLM) compacted at various densities and moisture contents. Thermal conductivity was measured using a Thermal Constant Analyzer using the Transient Plane Source method. Results found thermal conductivity decreased as the rubber content ...

Measurement of effective thermal conductivity of compacted granular media by the transient plane source technique

In this study, the effective thermal conductivity of compacted granular beds is investigated. Thermal conductivity was measured using the transient plane source technique. Granular beds of varying particle sizes were analyzed using various sensor sizes. Results found the effective thermal conductivity to increase with increasing granule size. Smaller sensor sizes were also found to give a larger effective thermal conductivity....

Measurement on thermal conductivity of compacted GMZ001 bentonite

This article looks at GMZ deposits as a candidate for buffer material of high-level radioactive wastes (HLW) in china. A thermal analyzer was used to measure thermal conductivity of compacted GMZ001 bentonite using the transient plane source technique. Results found that for samples having the same weight percentage of dry and wet density, thermal conductivity increased as the water content increased....
