x (x = 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10) pellets. These values were then used to determine the specific heat per unit volume of these glasses in the composition range of investigation. It was found that 4 at% of Sb (antimony) results in the critical composition of ...

In this article, the thermal properties and characteristics of a metal hydride alloy in a high hydrogen pressure environment were determined. An instrument was used to determine the thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, and specific heat of oxidized and activated Ti1.1CrMn powder under high hydrogen pressures. In doing so, the thermal conductivity of the oxidized powder increased from 0.80 W/m∙K to 1.6 W/m∙K, with increasing hydrogen pressure (from ...

This article looked at the simulation model used to control temperature evolution in the field for Swedish nuclear waste repositories. Heat transport properties of rock are known key factors for the repository layout and were measured using the Transient Plane Source (TPS) method. Compared to all samples tested, results found bedrock dominated by deformed granitoid rocks were characterized by relatively high thermal conductivities. ...

The purpose of this study was to look at the effective thermal conductivity (ETC) of coking coal, sandstone and foamed concrete existing in extreme thermal environments. Thermal-physical properties were measured under various conditions: fully water saturated, after saturation during air-drying, and oven-drying at 105°C. Results showed thermal conductivity increased with increasing moisture content, and sandstone had the highest mean thermal conductivity value of the three materials....

The present study looked at the damage characteristics and thermophysical properties of limestone and sandstone at -30 to 1000 °C. A thermal constants analyzer was used to measure thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, and specific heat of the rock samples. Results showed that water migration and phase transition were two core factors for thermal behaviors. Thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity were found to decrease during the heating process, while specific heat capacity ...
