On the tool wear mechanisms in dry and cryogenic turning additive manufactured titanium alloys

This article studied the titanium alloy, Ti6A14V, and its mechanical and thermal properties. The thermal properties (thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity) were obtained. The influence of temperature on thermal conductivity was also observed, and it was noted that the alloy produced by the Electron Beam Melting (EBM) method showed the highest values for thermal conductivity, regardless of temperature, and the alloy produced by the Direct Metal Laser Sintering (...

Nitrogen doped hybrid carbon based composite dispersed nanofluids as working fluid for low-temperature direct absorption solar collectors

This article studied the thermal conductivity of deionized (DI) water and ethylene glycol (EG) based nanofluids with varying temperatures for different volume fractions of N-(rGO-MWNTs) (nitrogen doped hybrid structure of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs)). The thermal conductivity was found by using the transient plane source (TPS) method by using a Thermal Analyser. From the experimental results, it was noted that the thermal conductivity of ...

Thermal properties and thermal structure in the deep-water coalbed basin off the Shimokita Peninsula, Japan

In deep sedimentary basins, geothermal processes are significantly affected by heat transport properties. In this study, thermal properties of deep sediment core samples were measured using a thermal constant analyzer with transient plane source method. Results showed that thermal conductivity of the sediment near the seafloor was low and increased with depth. Thermal conductivity of coal was lowest of all samples, while cemented rock exhibited the highest thermal conductivity....

Thermal and physical properties of reconsolidated crushed rock salt as a function of porosity and temperature

Crushed salt can be used as a backfill in salt repositories to bury and conduct heat away from radioactive waste in salt repositories. Since crushed salt compacts during reconsolidation, its thermo-physical properties will vary because of changes in porosity. A Transient Plane Source thermal constant analyzer was used to measure thermal conductivity of the salt samples. Thermal conductivity was found to decrease with increasing temperatures....

EMI shielding and thermal conductivity of a high porosity reticular titanium foam

As titanium foams are generally not as widely studied as aluminum foams, the electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding performance and thermal conductivity of a high porosity reticular titanium foam were determined to further study the performance of titanium foams. From the experimental results, the samples had better electromagnetic shielding performances at low frequencies effectiveness and the thermal conductivity showed a decreasing trend when the porosity of the samples were increased....
