Cryogenic testing explores the behavior of materials at extremely low temperatures. When chemicals are exposed to ultra-cold temperatures the properties of those chemicals change. This provides an intriguing area of study for researchers. These studies have led to advances in gaining a better understanding of materials while also creating entirely new technologies and industries. Cryogenic testing can be important when it comes to industries that deal with cold technologies to simulate how their products will perform under ultra-cold temperatures.
Dr. Sofia Mylona is an internationally recognized expert in the area of thermal conductivity measurements using the Transient Hot-Wire (THW) method. She is a graduate Chemist from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.Th.) in Greece and holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in the same university. During her Ph.D., she designed and constructed a novel Vibrating-Wire Viscometer for measuring high-viscosity liquids for which she received the 1st Metrology award in Greece. In the last 7 years, Dr. Mylona’s research is focused on thermal conductivity measurements using the Transient Hot-Wire technique.
