Abstract: The authors have presented a method for the addition of alumina nanoparticles and polypropylene fibers to a poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) matrix. This composite material shows promise for use as denture base material. The composite material was subsequently subjected to a number of tests to investigate its structural and thermal properties. It was found that the composites showed an improvement in impact strength, and one of the two composites tested also showed improved transverse strength. The surface hardness of the composites also increased in comparison with that of PMMA. The composites also showed an increase in surface roughness, and their thermal conductivities also increased.
