Abstract: The authors have developed a numerical model for the prediction of heat transfer capabilities of protective clothing when exposed to low-level radiant heat flux in order to increase the comfort of the protective clothing used by firefighters. It was determined that the model was able to accurately predict the properties of the clothing when the results were compared to experimental observations.
