Abstract: This article studied the flow and thermal transport characteristics of a ferrofluid based on transformer oil (Mogul Trafo CZ-A) and iron oxide nanoparticles. The thermal conductivity, specific heat, and thermal diffusivity were calculated using the transient plane source (TPS) method and a thermal constants analyzer was used for performing the measurements. It was found that the presence of the magnetic nanoparticles in the transformer oil (3%) increased its thermal conductivity by about 3.2%.
