Abstract: Thermocells are heat waste harvesting devices that operate at room temperature. The addition of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) to ionic liquids (ILs) in thermocells enhances electrical conductivity, and the devices can operate at higher temperatures. In this study, various properties of ILs containing MWCNTs were examined, and a TPS system measured the thermal conductivities of the samples using the transient plane source (TPS) method. Results showed that the thermal conductivity enhancement of the IL-based thermocell was 8 to 10 times lower than the electric power enhancement after the addition of MWCNTs, which improved the efficiency of the thermocell.
