Expanded graphite (EG)/paraffin composite materials were prepared with the weight % of EG varying from 0 to 10%. It was found that the addition of EG to paraffin greatly improved the thermal conductivity of the material. The melting and freezing points of the PCM were compared to those of the pure paraffin. Also the heat storage/retrieval rates were studied and demonstrated improved properties....
Nano-graphite (NG)/paraffin composites were prepared as composite phase change materials. The addition of NG increased the thermal conductivity of the composite material. The material containing 10% NG had a thermal conductivity of 0.9362 W/mK...
Through the addition of graphite powder (GP) and expanded graphite (EG) the authors were able to increase the thermal conductivity of a shape-stabilized paraffin/high density polyethylene (HDPE) composite phase change material (PCM). GP and EG were added in different mass fractions and a Thermal Constants Analyzer was used in order to measure the thermal conductivity. The relationship between mass fractions of GP and EG added were found to have ...
An organic phase change material (PCM), tetradecanol (TD), infused with copper nanowires (CuNWs), was sent through a slurry of tests, to determine the effect of the ultra-high aspect ratio and sponge nature of the CuNWs, on the PCM. Experimental testing alluded to the increased thermal conductivity of the PCM, with the addition of the CuNWs. The addition of CuNWs, enhanced the thermal conductivity of the PCM by nearly 9 times. A ...
