This study looked to analyze temperature effects on thermal transport properties of dry granite, gabbro, marble, and sandstone samples. An instrument was used with a high temperature chamber to perform thermal conductivity measurements on the rock samples. The thermal conductivity of the granite, marble, and sandstone samples were found to decrease with increasing ambient temperature, while the gabbro remained almost constant....
Knowing the thermophysical properties of insulating building materials is essential in understanding heat loss. In this study, the thermal conductivity and thermal diffusivity of five marble samples were measured using the transient plane source (TPS) technique and compared to results obtained through the transient hot strip (THS) method. The TPS technique is nearly twenty times the initial resistance of the THS method and does not require small sample sizes or ...
The thermophysical properties of natural and artificial samples of marble were investigated to determine how the marble would respond to solar irradiation. The thermal conductivity, specific heat and density were all determined experimentally for the marble samples, and the thermal diffusivity was calculated using these properties. It was determined based on the thermal diffusivity values that heat travelled faster through the natural samples than it did through the artificial samples. ...
