Simultaneous Estimation and Modeling of Thermophysical Properties of Big-Eyed Tuna and Pacific Cod

Extreme care must be taken regarding the proper processing and storage of market seafood the correct amount of heat transfer with occur in order to deliver healthy and fresh tasting food. Measurements of the thermal conductivities of big-eyed tuna and pacific cod were taken with a modified transient line source probe method in a temperature range of 5 - 50Ā°C. Accurate predictions are ...

Thermal properties and thermal structure in the deep-water coalbed basin off the Shimokita Peninsula, Japan

In deep sedimentary basins, geothermal processes are significantly affected by heat transport properties. In this study, thermal properties of deep sediment core samples were measured using a thermal constant analyzer with transient plane source method. Results showed that thermal conductivity of the sediment near the seafloor was low and increased with depth. Thermal conductivity of coal was lowest of all samples, while cemented rock exhibited the highest thermal conductivity....

Transient plane source technique for measurement of thermal conductivity of U and T91 for fast reactor applicationĀ

Thermal conductivity is one of the most important properties of fuel and cladding material. In this study, the thermal conductivity of uranium and T91 steel were measured using the transient plane source (TPS) method. Results showed that the thermal conductivity of T91 increased gradually to a point, then decreased. Fast reacting cladding materials require high thermal conductivities, and T91 was found to have higher conductivities than other commercial materials. As ...

Characterization of anisotropic and irregularly-shaped materials by high-sensitive thermal conductivity measurements

The transient plane source (TPS) technique has a wide range of applications because of its capability to test solids, liquids, powders, and anisotropic materials over a range of sizes. Thermal properties of thin films and coatings can also be characterized using the TPS method if the samples are placed between the sensor and a bulk background. To minimize errors with the TPS method, use identical materials on each side of ...

Measurement and modeling of the effective thermal conductivity for porous methane hydrate samples

Gas hydrates have potential to be used as future energy sources, so it is important to understand their thermal properties. This paper aims to examine the effective thermal conductivity of synthetic porous methane hydrate samples. A Thermal Constants Analyser measured the thermal conductivity of the methane hydrate samples using the single-sided transient plane source (TPS) method. Results showed an inverse relationship between porosity and thermal conductivity. Unfortunately, mechanical pressure can ...
