Identifying Potential Energy Sources Using Thermal Testing

As global warming floods news headlines, research companies must find ways to minimize the worlds carbon-foot print, while also developing new means for energy resources. One of the biggest contributors of greenhouse gases is the burning of fossil fuels for their use in automobiles. To overcome this hurdle, scientists have researched hydrogen fuel cells, which allow the chemical energy in hydrogen to be directly converted to electricity, with water and heat as the only by-products. Another means of accessing potential energy sources is methane hydrates. Methane hydrates are ice crystals found under the Arctic permafrost in the ocean sediments of the continental margins. These methane hydrates are said to house a tremendous amount of carbon, an extensive energy source. With Hot Disk thermal conductivity instruments, such as the TPS 2500S, analysts have not only been able to identify potential energy sources, they have also been able to modify these energy sources, to increase their effectiveness and thermal conductivities.
