Composites made from a combination of cis-polyisoprene (CPI) and nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) were investigated to determine the effect of varying proportions of each additive on the mechanical and thermal properties of the final product. The use of a scanning electron microscope to quantify the structure of the material revealed that all samples were homogenous. Young's modulus and tensile strength were two of the mechanical properties studied. The blend composition ...
In this paper, natural rubber (NR)/graphene (GE) composites were prepared using an ultrasonically-assisted latex mixing and in situ reduction (ULMR) process. A thermal constants analyzer measured the thermal conductivity of the NR/GE composites using the transient plane source (TPS) method. Results showed that GE had a good thermal conductivity, and can be used as a thermal conductivity enhancer in polymers....
Natural rubber/graphene (NR/GE) composites were prepared by ultrasonically-assisted latex mining and an in situ reduction process, followed by latex coagulation to obtain the masterbatch. It was determined that this method of preparing the NR/GE composites resulted in an increase in tensile strength when compared to conventional direct mixing. A variety of properties of the composites were investigated, including: thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, specific heat, maximum torque, crosslink ...
