Investigation into the Influence of Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) Process Parameters on the Thermal Properties of 3D-Printed Parts

This paper attempts to expand the data for the thermal properties of materials used in 3D printing, which was considered limited before. This new data set may be useful in accelerating new developments and designs of heat exchangers. The effect of layer height and width are accounted for in the presented measurements. It is shown from varying these dimensions that as the layer height and width increase the thermal conductivity ...

Effective thermal conductivity of CdS/ZnS nanoparticles embedded polystyrene nanocomposites

In this paper, thermal properties of CdS and ZnS nanoparticles are examined to understand heat transfer behavior through polystyrene (PS) composites. The transient plane source (TPS) method was used to measure the thermal conductivities of the CdS/PS and ZnS/PS nanocomposites. Results showed that the nanocomposites followed a similar increasing trend until a common temperature where each sample adopted a constant thermal conductivity. Overall, the ZnS/PS nanocomposites showed ...

Thermal contact resistance of cured gel polymeric thermal interface material

Thermal interface materials are used to enhance the contact between two pieces of an electronic, to ultimately reduce the temperature and improve performance. This paper researches the contact resistance of curable polymer gels, a thermal interface material (TIMs). These TIM polymer gels have quite different mechanical properties thanks to the rheology of the polymer itself. Alongside physical testing, the researchers proposed a model to predict the thermal contact resistance of ...
