Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) have applications in the aeronautic industry. This study examined how the concentration of MWCNT affects the electrical and thermal conductivities of nanocomposites. A thermal analyzer (TPS) measured the thermal properties of the nanocomposites using the transient plane source (TPS) technique. Results showed that thermal conductivity of the samples increased with MWCNT concentration and temperature, but the phenoxy-MWCNT nanocomposites had higher thermal properties than the PES-MWCNT nanocomposites....
This study developed a model that used a transient plane source (TPS) sensor to measure the specific heat capacity of anisotropic materials. The underside of a sample holder with a diameter of 20 mm, and a height of 5 mm was attached to a Kapton TPS sensor. During measurements, the sample holder was hung inside a steel tube at atmospheric pressure. Results showed that the model underestimated the heat capacity, which suggests ...
Aspects of hydrogen distribution systems need improvement for their applications in fuel cell vehicles. In this paper, chemical and physical characteristics of the H2 storage material, sodium aluminum hydride (SAH), were examined after the samples were compacted and Expanded Natural Graphite (ENG) worms were added. A Thermal Constants Analyzer (TPS) measured the thermal conductivity of the SAH pellets with (ENG) worms using the Transient Plane Source (TPS) method. Results showed ...
Gas hydrates have potential to be used as future energy sources, so it is important to understand their thermal properties. This paper aims to examine the effective thermal conductivity of synthetic porous methane hydrate samples. A Thermal Constants Analyser measured the thermal conductivity of the methane hydrate samples using the single-sided transient plane source (TPS) method. Results showed an inverse relationship between porosity and thermal conductivity. Unfortunately, mechanical pressure can ...
In this study, a sensor measured the thermal conductivity of molten indium antimonide (InSb) using the transient plane source (TPS) method. The measurements were taken during a 10 m short-duration microgravity drop. Results showed that the thermal conductivities of molten InSb were higher in normal gravity than in microgravity....
