Abstract:

The authors used the transient plane source (TPS) technique to investigate the effect of pH on nanofluid thermal conductivity and viscosity. Cu and Al2O3 nanoparticles were dispersed in water to create two nanofluids. pH was then varied and thermal conductivity and viscosity measurements were made on the nanofluids. An optimal pH was found to give the lowest viscosity and highest thermal conductivity, and a significant improvement in thermal conductivity was observed through the addition of nanoparticles to water.
